The district covers the majority of Denton, Cross Roads, Corinth and a small portion of Flower Mound. The district also serves the housing developments of Providence, Cross Oak Ranch, Paloma Creek and Savannah, all located in unincorporated portions of Denton County . It also encompasses about 180 square miles.

Denton ISD is one of the fastest-growing school districts in North Texas. It is located at the tip of the "Golden Triangle," which includes the cities of Dallas, Fort Worth and Denton.  The Denton Independent School District has been committed to providing an exemplary education to its students since it was founded in 1882. The district encompasses almost 180 square miles and currently includes three comprehensive high schools, five middle schools, 16 elementary schools, advanced technology complex, early childhood center, alternative high school, and other specialized schools and centers.
